Cape Cod Child Development Joins Hundreds for Afterschool and Expanded Learning Opportunities Advocacy Day
02/09/2010
On February 4th, 2010 a group from Cape Cod Child Development joined hundreds from across the state for Afterschool and Expanded Learning Opportunities Advocacy Day. Everyone gathered at the State House to celebrate afterschool programs and successes with state legislators, Senator Therese Murray and Representatives Matthew Patrick and Timothy Madden.
Hosted by the Massachusetts Afterschool Partnership (MAP), a statewide grassroots coalition of afterschool and out-of-school time providers, parents, and other stakeholders, the day was a chance for everyone to meet with legislature to join together in supporting these critical opportunities for youth.
Afterschool and out-of-school time programs including Cape Cod Child Development provide children and youth opportunities to learn essential social, emotional, artistic, health, and academic skills that inspire them to learn and are vital for their future success.
In this difficult economic climate, programs like Cape Cod Child Development help thousands of families across the Commonwealth to make it work. The program provides before and after school child care as well as care for all school early release, and in-service days, school vacations and summer camp. Cape Cod Child Development offers a wide variety of activities designed to enable children to learn while having fun with peers and a well trained staff.
Supporting working families in the Falmouth, Hyannis and Yarmouth and surrounding, parents may qualify for state-subsidized, sliding-scale fees to access programs, or apply for our agency's scholarship funds. We also accept vouchers.
There has never been a more important time to support afterschool programs – for providing quality services, supporting working families, supporting economic growth, strengthening workforce development and keeping kids safe, the answer is simple: Afterschool Works!
