FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mother’s Day Run the LM5K to benefit Cape Cod’s children Lee Ann Mannillo Foundation chooses Cape Cod Child Development Program to receive proceeds from Barnstable Village 5k
Hyannis, MA, May 2, 2016 – Cape Cod Child Development Program is honored to have been named the beneficiary of the second annual Lee Ann Mannillo 5K Race which is taking place this Mother’s Day, 5/8/2016 in Barnstable village. The Lee Ann Mannillo Foundation was formed after the unexpected and devastating loss of Lee Ann Mannillo mere hours after her twin sons were born in May 2014.
Lee was a dedicated and celebrated employee of Barnstable County and an avid supporter of community enrichment and service. Outside of work she was a vivacious and loving individual who made connections and friends everywhere she went. Last year the inaugural race in her honor generated over $15,000 in support for local families who were struggling with the loss of a parent.
This year the organizers are aiming to exceed last year’s contributions to benefit families and children in our region by supporting Cape Cod Child Development’s broad range of services that include preschool/head start; school-age programs; early intervention services; parent education and playgroups for children; support for teen parents and family child-care. “Knowing that Lee Ann was such a community leader and a real advocate for children and families on Cape Cod makes it a very special honor. We feel it is a great fit and that having families participate in a 5K to support Cape Cod Child Development is a perfect way to celebrate Lee Ann’s life.” says Anne Colwell, C.E.O. of Cape Cod Child Development Program.
Lee Ann’s twins received Early Intervention services from Cape Cod Child Development. Rich Mannillo, Lee Ann’s husband, says he “truly appreciates our experience with Cape Cod Child Development’s Early Intervention program. It’s been a huge help for our boys and we are happy to be giving back with this effort.”
Cape Cod Child Development is a non-profit organization committed to providing affordable care and accessible community resources for the children and families of Cape Cod and the Islands. For additional information on Cape Cod Child Development, please visit www.cccdp.org.
